Clicker Training

How can the clicker be used in a veterinarian field?

The clicker can be very useful in the veterinary field. For example if the animal knows how to do special things like, to lay on its back or to stand still the veterinarian can be doing what it needs to do while the animal is paying attention to the owner, and so the animal will be distracted and it will be easier for the vet to do what needs to be done. Usually the animal is paying attention to the vet and the animal will move and so if the animal can pay attention to the clicker then it’s easier for the vet. It’s easier for the vet if it knows how to sit, lie down, stay, or shake. If all pet owners would teach their dogs clicker training then when they go to a vet the it will be much easier for the owner and the dog, it would be done much faster.

I have a dog and whenever someone rings the door bell or knocks on the door he automatically stars barking and runs to the door to see who it is. And if he doesn’t recognize the person he will not stop barking. So I put him in his room where he sleeps until he stops barking or until the person leaves. Even though I yell at him “NO” he will not stop barking unless I really yell at him and then he runs away to my room and just growls. So I am going to teach him not to bark at people, it might be with the clicker by using treats or I might try something else.

He also barks at people outside at our yard and that isn’t good because people might think that he will bite. I’m also going to try to correct and teach him that it’s not ok to bark at other people. One time when one of my uncles came home for a visit he gave my dog a scare and the dog holds a grudge on him for scaring him since my dog is scare at mostly everything like the broom, vacuum cleaner, and other big things. And by using the clicker I will teach him that it’s ok and he doesn’t need to be afraid of my uncle or anything else.
